The best gift I've ever given was to my boyfriend, and I know it was good because he loved it soo much. I have him an ukelele, he'd been wanting one for so long.. and it was a total surprise for him. Till this day he says it's one of his favorite gifts.

Originally my grandparents had bought me the custom designed earrings for a graduation gift and I lost them. Ive always told my husband how much I regret not having those earrings. Last year my grandparents both passed away, but somehow on my birthday, there were the earrings all wrapped up in the wrapping paper my grandma always used.
Happy Birthday! I would have to say that the best gift ever was one I gave my husband. I secretly bid on ebay to win him the #1 issue from his favorite comic book series. After two tries I had the winning bid and was able to surprise him with it during a gift exchange at a friend's Christmas party. Him completely geeking out over it was worth the whole process!

This one may sound a little cliche, but the best gift I've ever received is salvation through Jesus Christ :) In regards to more tangible gifts, my friends surprised me with tons of cake and ice cream on my 21st birthday this year (It was a great night of "binge dessert-ing")!

ReplyDeleteMy best birthday gift would be my stuffed white teddy bear that I got when I turned three on July 31st 1990. It was from my grampa who passed away a week later on August 8th 1990. I used to always bring it around when I was younger and there's a photo of me carrying Teddy while my mom picked me up to see my grampa at the wake. At night when I was younger I even used to whisper into Teddy's ear to talk to my grampa and say how I was doing good as well as how much I missed him. I still do.

The best gift I've given was one I made for Secret Santa. The person I was responsible for loved dragons and peanut M&M's, so I made a Papier-mâché dragon that was hatching from an egg. Inside its belly, I hid some peanut M&Ms. I wrapped a bow around the part of the neck that was poking out of the shell, and I placed the entire egg on top of a nest. The look on her face when she saw it was indescribable, almost pure bliss. She refused to break open the egg to get the M&Ms. I was so glad that I was able to finish it in time!
ReplyDeleteBefore we were married, I had moved 7 hours away from my husband to try to sort my life out. I joined the job corp and lived on an old navy base. I had just lost my job, gotten into a car accident and broken off an engagement to someone I thought I was going to marry. I was in a new relationship with my now husband. We had been very good friends previously. But, I was sooo confused and lost. The town I moved to received gale force winds often. It was impossible to carry an umbrella because the wind would literally snap the umbrella in two and carry the top away or bend the umbrella up and out or collapse it inward right over your head. My husband on one of his trips up to visit me surprised me with a vented umbrella that could withstand the high winds. I loved it so much and I remember walking past some coast guard guys one day, one of them offered me $50 for my umbrella, he was so impressed with it. 10 years later, I still have that umbrella. It's been through some major storms and still works. I treasure it because I knew how much thought and care he put into it picking it out for me. It was a ray of sunlight during those difficult days for me.

The best gift I've ever received was windshield wipers for Valentine's Day (let me explain)...the year before (the previous Valentine's Day) I was stranded on the side of the road in sleet because my driver's side wiper had broken/flown off. My grandma had just passed away and the one thing that I wished was that he could come with me because he was my big "teddy bear". So he got me 2 teddy bears, one small one for when I go & he can't come & one big one when he leaves and I can't go with him. He even got them in my two favorite colors.

ReplyDeleteThe best gift I ever received was a vintage inspired Flip Cameo Ring from my mom. It was during my hardest semester at college, and she also surprised me with a Canon Rebel camera. That was by far the best birthday ever! It was so special because I never even had to ask for the ring or hint that I wanted it so badly.

The best gift I have ever received was from my husband on our 3rd wedding anniversary. We were VERY broke college kids at the time, but somehow he scraped together enough money to buy me a pair of diamond studs. I wear them almost all the time 5 years later!

When I was really young I got a Fisher Price plastic pizza maker. It was the coolest thing ever - you placed ice in the top of the 'pizza oven' to make the plastic bits of pizza turn red (to show they were cooked). There were plastic insertable toppings, and the oven had a little timer that made a recorded 'tick tick tick ding' sound.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift is one that I gave and in turn also received. Gifts and trinkets mean a lot, but time together and sweet acts that demonstrate love have always been especially meaningful to me.
My mother and I have always been very close and since I've moved away after college, time spent together has begun to be fewer and farther between. The weekend of this past Mother's Day, she had an art show, which I drove up to surprise her for. Before leaving, I gave her two matching tea cups. One, I explained, would be for her and the other for me. Whenever we want to spend time together, we brew some tea, give each other a call and sip from our matching cups while catching up and "having tea together".
Happy birthday Ruche! The best birthday present I've ever received is probably a pencil/pen set my brother got me, as it was probably the first present he gave me!

I have had multiple tragic deaths with pets in my past including a cat that I nursed from 2 weeks old and sadly died in my arms 1 year later; and I have not had a pet in years... so to get this beta, who I named Ricky (after Ricky Ricardo from I Love Lucy) was so very special and warming to my heart because it was from someone so special, my future husband.

The best gift I ever received was a unique diamond ring that my mom gave me. The story behind it makes it special. My mom had some tough experiences in her life, including her fiance passing away suddenly in her senior year of college. When she finally got married several years later to a wonderful man, they only had 4 short years together until they were in a car accident which took his life from her, also. A few years later she met and married my dad. She kept her old engagement ring from her first husband, but had it re-set into a beautiful gold "flower" setting that she designed herself. When I turned 21 she gave that ring to me. She said she wanted me to know that even when bad things happen, you have to hang on through it because somehow things will be okay in the end. If she hadn't lost her first husband, she wouldn't have married my dad, and I wouldn't be here, and I was technically supposed to be her 5th child (she had 4 miscarriages before me).

The best gift I ever received was my cute dog Ellie Mae on Christmas Eve. My husband wanted me to open my main "gift" a day early-probably because he couldn't contain his excitement! And neither could our brand new puppy! He brought out a box and I could tell instantly from all the shaking that there was something "alive" inside. I opened it up and out came the cutest, most loving, most wonderful pet I could ever hope for. Ellie will turn 6 in October and she's seriously the best dog in the world. You may think I'm biased because I'm her mom, but seriously, SHE IS THE BEST DOG IN THE WORLD! :)

My mother became pregnant at the age of seventeen and rode her bike from Oceanside to Carlsbad to take a pregnancy test at a clinic just to make sure. She was scared, nervous, and panicked. She could have decided to end my life in her womb thus saving being kicked out of her own home, but she chose to keep me- to allow me life- simple, beautiful life- the greatest gift of all.
The best gift I've received is the Canon 35mm f/2 lens. It's on my camera 90% of the time!

I found them a year later in a discount store for 5 dollars (seriously reduced) and was thrilled to be able to give them back to her!!

ReplyDeleteHi the best gift that I've ever recieved was a golden snail that I had been admiring in a antique store display during Christmas. I had talked about how different it was in a window of classic gold items. The day before chirstmas I went for a walk and saw that it was gone. I was ranting- who would love that snail except for me. Little did I know that my husband listened to me, and went and bought the snail. It took him a while because he couldn't remember exactly what it was, almost left and noticed it in the window. This by far was the greatest gift- better than a diamond ring, a new car or anything else- it was his thoughtfullness that made the snail so special.Plus it's an awesome story too- I can provide a pic to- erin
