Ruche's Inspiration: PainfullyHip

I wanted to start doing blog post features on my favorite style icons. This one is dedicated to Amber from PainfullyHip.

My BIGGEST inspirations are not fashion designers, but fashion bloggers. All you ladies out there have inspired me so much! In fact, without all of you, Ruche would not be what it is today. Even then, I still have so much more to learn and so many improvements I want to make on Ruche. I want to thank all of you for supporting and inspiring me!

My first inspiration was Amber from PainfullyHip. Before Ruche, I ran another online boutique. Amber was the first to discover it and blogged about it! She also introduced me to Wardrobe Remix, which I think is the GREATEST site ever! Amber is really a fashion icon. Her daily dose of fashion finds, editorial and street style photos definitely kept me hooked.

Ruche's Interview with PainfullyHip

> How did you get into blogging?
I was working at a sound studio in Vancouver attending to B list movie actors and was bored out of my mind 70% of the day. Blogging was something productive to do while I waited to get coffee for Jean Claude Van Damme. No joke.

> How would you describe your style of fashion?
Layers, mixed up proportions and lots of patterns. I have a tendency toward sixties and twenties styling with a quirky but modern edge

> Inspirations?
Louise Brooks, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Leslie Hall, MIA

> Current favorite outfit?
My newest one. I have a short attention span.

> Your favorite vintage find?
A tooled leather corset belt. Its completely amazing. Discovered on foxhuntvintage.com

> What is your favorite season to dress?
Summertime! Who loves short shorts? Guilty as charged.

> What do you think will be big for spring?
tapered, high-waisted trousers in bright colors.

> What recent trend have you been totally turned off by?
Fringe on everything. Fringe is cool, but only when used responsibly.

> What is in your purse?
I'm constantly carrying around a dizzying array of travel-sized products which I never use. Except for my Tide stain pen - I eat like a starving person at a casino buffet. Its a curse which makes wearing white very risky business.

> Things you can't live without?
My Benetint blush.

> What do you like to do in your spare time?
Anything I've never done.

Check out Amber in Ruche's purple ruffly tie pencil dress! I just loved how she paired up the dress with a black belt and bright red shoes. What a terrific combo.

Thanks again Amber!

Oh La La - Premium Denim for $40.00!

One of my resolutions for the New Year is to SPEND LESS. With the economy situation these days, everyone is on a budget. I really have to cut my habit of eating out and of course my shopping splurges. Ever since my first pair of Seven for all Mankind, I was hooked on buying premium jeans. The saying "once you start, you can't stop" is sOOO true!

But alas, Karyn from Alias Denim introduced me to her line of premium denim! I got myself a pair of premium denim jeans for only $40!! You can probably only get jeans for this price at Old Navy, but it is NOT half as nice, comfortable, and fitting as these jeans! There is only one wash at this time, but I'm sure they will be coming up with some new washes in the near future. Either way, dark denim is a must have! These jeans are super soft with a really nice wash. But I think the best part of it is the fit. I am a shorty with a flat butt and these fit really well because they lengthen my leg and give me a butt! Perfect!

I was reading Alias's about us and it is so similar to my vision for Ruche.
Alias: "We were tired of paying hundreds of dollars for premium denim. We loved the fit and style but didn't love what it was doing to our bank account. We tried less expensive jeans, but just couldn't find the right style and price combination....Look HOT without burning a hole in their jean pocket." I'm all for that!

Get them at aliasdenim.com for $40!.

Ruche's New Lookbook Preview

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I spent most of my time with family and pigging out on all the yummy food. I think I gained about 5lbs over the week! Tomorrow we're heading out to Big Bear to play in the snow. We're taking our four legged son Roji. He's an American Eskimo and he's going to see snow for the first time! =)

On another note:

Today, we had our second lookbook photo shoot for Ruche! Joleen (the 'awesomest' photographer!), took the most gorgeous pictures! By the way, if you are a mom in Southern California, you need to have her take your kid's photos. She actually specializes in children photography. But after this shoot, I think she should do fashion photography as well! I had the privilege to work with such a wonderful team. Andrea was a beautiful, professional, and down to earth model. Susie worked her magic with makeup and hair. Josh, the hubby had a great time playing assistant. =D

Joleen was so creative with the photos and the props she used. I will post up the rest of the pictures when they're ready. I can't wait to see how the rest came out! Here is just a lil preview. Not all the clothes are on sale yet, but look out for them in the next week.

Ruche Unveiled

So I realized that I've never posted any pictures of myself yet. I guess it is about time I put a face to the name. I am getting an interview with 13 Minutes Magazine and they had asked for some pictures of me. Being that I don't have any good pictures, I decided to take some this weekend. My husband played photographer. I don't really have many pictures of myself because he isn't the best of photographers haha (shhhh..) but he did such a good job this time!! I think he'll be doing this more often =)

This is me....in Ruche attire of course =)

note: The dress and shirt worn will be on sale in the next couple weeks.

Newly Added Goodies

I'm back from NYC and I had an AWESOME time. New York is so cool...I want to move there for a couple years! But I don't think that is realistic at this time =(. I'll be posting up some pictures later on.

Well vacation over and back to work I go. I've added some new jewelry, accessories, and shoes! I actually got most of these things in New York. Hope you like them! I was able to restock some classic ones that ran out a couple months ago. I'll be adding new clothes in the next couple weeks. I'm also trying to restock some of the dresses that ran out recently as well.

Here is a preview of some new added items. Enjoy!
