Help me find the perfect bathing suit!

The hubby and I will be heading off to Hawaii in less than two weeks! I've never been to Hawaii! It is going to be a short vacation, just 4 1/2 days. I'm sure I'll be enjoying every single minute of it! I'm planning to go to a luau, swim with sharks (in a cage of course), snorkel, get a tan, drink fresh coconuts, relax, and eat my heart out. Josh and I love food =D. This is what I've been craving for: Giovanni's Shrimp Truck.

Anyhow, I am on a quest to find a cute one piece bathing suit. I already have bikinis, but I gained a little weight in the mid section so I'd feel more comfortable in a one piece. Plus I've always wanted a more conservative bathing suit just in case.

I've been looking at Urban outfitters, Anthropologie, and Victoria secret. Are there any other good sites/store?

Based on the ones that I've see on those sites, I've narrowed it down to two. Help! Which one should I get??

They are both adorable... but I think the white one will go further. By that I mean that you can wear it under jeans and a cute, maybe sheer top and be ready to go swimming or sun bathing at the drop of a hat!

I usually steer clear of white/cream bathing suits because water on white swimsuits make them see-through! So I would pick the yellow one. Brights are very popular this season, and you could work the color clash trend by carrying a bright red tote. I also really love the frills at the bottom - they would take attention away from your mid-section if you're feeling self-conscious! x

The tan one, for sure. Sharks are attracted to yellow. =)

I love them both. Can't go wrong. Are you going to the main island. If so, I have shopping advice for you. My husband is a pilot and we have been there many times. My favorite store is Cinnamon Girl. There are 7 on the main island and I have been to all of them. Girly girl style and not here in the states. You will LOVE it! Email for more info if you would like.

I'm getting ready to place my first order with your store and I'm excited to find it! Thanks. Love your style.

i live in hawaii!! i'm not really a fan of the shrimp truck, but i love the roasted buttery corn they sell in haleiwa on the north shore...nd the dole plantation is a good short stop (at least for the pineapple whip!) it's pretty free, unless you go on a train ride...i think sunset beach (on north shore) is my favorite.... if you have time, go to kailua and try lanikai juice ....after hitting up lanikai beach...or hike the ridge! gorgeous views... sorry for writing so long:: bring a jacket/cardigan..its colder than it seems at night sometimes! have fun!!

Thank you all for your help!!! I have decided to go with the marigold one. =)

I'm going to Honolulu and will be staying by Waikiki beach.

I will make sure to check out Cinnamon Girl!

Anonymous - Thank you so much for your tips! I will look up all those places that you mentioned. Are they in Honolulu? We rented a car so we can drive around on a quest to find all these places!

(this is anon from above)

kailua is a short drive out...about 10 miles, but 20 minutes. (If you rent a car, you can drive around oahu in ...less than a day -a few hours, it's a nice quiet drive, especially if you drive east of honolulu up to the north shore and down back to honolulu)
but if you love food... you should definitely check out:

-A "Plate lunch" - rainbow drive in is a pretty standard. The fried chicken plate is delish-but you have to wait longer, a Moco loco is the standard "hawaiian" lunch.
-lanikai juice: my fav is the coco champ, but acai bowls (pronounced "a sa ee") are most popular here. it's jamba juice x 1000 better.
-3660: located in the Kaimuki area of honolulu...probably the best food (trumps alan wong's) but the decor is a bit "eh"
-roy's: although roy's is nationwide, the service and taste at roy's in honolulu (or hawaii kai) is AWESOME..i love the roy's in honolulu
-shave ice (they're very picky about the d...aka there is no d...anywhere it's pretty much standard
-ramen, i like tenkaiipen ramen on kapahulu, their kotteri ramen is their house, but their shoyu is pretty delicious
-leonard's bakery for Malasadas (portuguese donuts) these are delicious..., also on Kapahulu (pretty close to the waikiki strip, you can walk to the ramen and leonards, or drive. they both have parking lots)
-zippy's is like a cafeteria style local fast food place, there are TONS everywhere...it's not the most gourmet, but it's a fun place to taste cheap local "fast food" my fav is the spaghetti and chicken mix plate.
-yelping places to go is pretty helpful for hawaii since it's so small.

(i just get so excited when people go to hawaii...there are a lot o GOOD places to check out to eat and see, but some place just plain suck...aka the mexican food here is pretty awful..)

Glad you chose the Marigold suit. SO cute!

If you ever want a second suit, and now seeing the style you like, I thought I would point you to the Hayden-Harnett site. Their suits this year are adorable. I think the "CLIO Ruffled Maillot" is the best, and the "DAPHNE Pinup Tank." Is cute, too. Ignore the emaciated model, there are photos elsewhere on the site with real women wearing the suits and they look great on.

Have a great trip!
